6 Questions with Jason Gonzalez

First comic you remember reading: GI Joe #10. I got it off a spinner rack at a 7-11. I was always a fan of the Spider-man newspaper strips and love the detail and “Marvel House Style” look of them and, when I saw that there were whole comics with that art style, I freaked out. I just knew that comics were something that I was going to be into for a long time.

Creators who have inspired you: Comics – Jack Kirby, Alex Toth, Milton Caniff, Alex Raymond, Darwyn Cooke. Animation – Ward Kimball, Ub Iwerks, Eyvind Earle, Ralph Bakshi Design – Saul Bass, Raymond Loewy, Massimo Vignelli
Dream Project: Amazing Spider-Man. I have a weird superstition about it too – I don’t draw Spider-man a lot, because I don’t want to do it until I do it for real.
Current Project: La Mano del Destino
Favorite Art Tools: Sanford Protouch II, HB lead, Canson bristol smooth and Adobe Illustrator
Anything special for ACME/Free Comic Book Day: I am hoping to have exclusive prints done
